(Feel free to ignore this post if you already know all about my kittehs!)
;-)
My name is Hannah and I'm obviously QUITE new to this. I've created this wonderful blog to document life with my kitties. I currently have 2 cats -- Merlin (orange marmalade kitty) and Winston (black kitty).

Merlin (born around Christmas of '08) came with my house when I bought it nearly a year ago. The previous owners told me that he's really great at catching rodents and even water moccasins! lol... That kind of sold me on him, because I definitely don't want to deal with water moccasions! O_o Anyways, Merlin a.k.a. "MERL!" (<--said in a "meow"-like fashion) would really like to be an inside kitty (he runs in at any chance he can get!), but he's not fixed, so I don't want him spraying all over my furniture! Plus he's lived outside all his life, so I think he's just used to it. He sticks around the house mainly... though sometimes he'll wander off for shorts amount of time! Funny thing is if he's down the street from the house, he'll RECOGNIZE my car when I get home and come running back beside the car! I had no clue cats could do that! lol... He's really sweet and kind of shy at times, but he's a really good kitty! MERRRRRL!

Winston (born Octoberish of '07) was a stray kitty that I found on New Years Eve of '08. We were at my brother and sister-in-law's celebrating New Years and when my now husband, Gene, went outside to smoke, he found this little fuzzy, STINKY black kitty who just wouldn't leave him alone! I remember Winston barely had a meow at all.. It was more of a "squeak" or he'd open his mouth to meow and nothing would come out! It was so sad, but so cute! ;) On New Years Day, I had battled myself with whether I wanted to bring Winston home with me or not, because if I did, I'd have to pay a pet deposit to my landlady, which I really didn't want to do! But after a lot of thinking and lots of convincing from everyone else, I decided to take him home. The name was pretty easy because my parents had a black fluffy cat that looked JUST LIKE Winston, but HER name was Salem, so yea Winston came pretty natural! LOL How punny! Anyhoo, so I've had Winston ever since that quite cold New Years Eve! He's been a really good kitty, although his fur is sometimes overbearing! He sheds like CRAZY! He loves to play still, but he's not much of a cuddler unless it's HIS idea! This happens very rarely, and usually only occurs if I'm home alone. It's like he's ashamed to be seen with me or something?! :-P Winston's nickname is "Min Min".... Don't ask where it came from.. I just come up with silly nicknames for animals and even humans alike! ;-D I love my little Winston Shadow Kittycat! Even if he does sound like a chirpy bird! Hehe...
I did have a third kitty, but he died nearly a month ago :'( His name was 'Stinky.'

I loved Stinky SOSOSO much! He was the best cuddler kitty I could have asked for! I actually found this little guy while I was showing my now stepdaughter, Wesleigh, the Paris, TX, Eiffel Tower. We had walked up to the tower and out of the bushes jumps out this little bitty stocky-looking kitty... and he IMMEDIATELY jumped into Wesleigh's arms! That really shocked me that he was THAT tame and sweet! Wesleigh of course was begging me to take him home, but I just knew (or thought I knew) that I didn't need a 3rd kitty. So, we go to leave, and I open the door to put Wes in her carseat and here comes Mr Stinky... and he jumps RIGHT in the car! At this point, I just couldn't leave him! He so obviously wanted to go with me! lol... I had tried at first to find a home for him, but we ended up keeping him, and the rest is history! I had named him 'Bengi' at first because he had spots like a Bengal, but after a couple of months I just ended up calling him 'Stinky' because he would pass gas so much LOL... that and his breath was rancid! Oh my! The name was just oh-so perfect for him! Haha!... I miss this little guy way too much! I only had him for about 6 months before his tragic death. He died due to complications of a diaphragmatic hernia, which was caused by who knows what! Basically, all of his intestines and stomach were in his chest cavity! We tried to do the surgery to fix him, but they didn't even get through the first incision before he passed away :-/ I definitely learned that although kitties are cute and cuddly and you want to squeeze them, you shouldn't squeeze them TOO hard in the belly region because, as the vet said, their diaphragm is so thin that you can read a newspaper through it, therefore it tears quite easily! Don't squeeze the kittehs too hard! I miss you Stinky! I don't think I'll ever have another kitty like you ever again!
Rest in peace, little guy!
Now for some HAPPY news... I will be getting a NEW kitty here in a week! :) I canNOT wait for this! The kitty is a dilute calico, straight-eared Scottish Fold. She is so precious and I can't wait to bring her home! Here's a picture of her that I took when I met her a couple of weeks ago!
I so cannot wait to bring her home!! Her name will be 'Ruby' a.k.a. MISS PRISS! I hope she'll feel quite welcomed into our house and learn to be a cuddler, though it's okay if she's not! :) This will be -MY- first ever pedigree cat AND female cat, at that! Shall be interesting! I have a feeling she'll take up most of the blog posts on here!
Well, that's all for now! TUNE IN to ~Tales of Kittehs~ later for future picture and story updates! :) Leave comments if you feel the itch! Woohoo!!
Winston sure is a pretty kitty. I have always liked the look of black cats. And Stinky looked just like my old neighbors' cat Tabor. The only cat I ever really liked I might add. I even pet this cat when I saw him. haha His mommy was the cat that made me not like cats though... she attacked me when I went to pet her. I still have scars in my hand. :P
ReplyDeleteOuch! Yea I guess that would scar you (no pun intended) from liking cats! I bet if I went to pet a rat and was bitten then I'd feel the same way too! I always think of kitty bites as "love bites" though LOL.. It just comes with the kitties! I'm sure you feel the same about your ratties! ;) One day I shall come to visit you and hold one of ratchilds! :D
ReplyDeleteYou are a good writer, Hannah! I was totally captivated. Can't wait to see the adventures of Miss Priss. :)
ReplyDeleteI have not been bitten by any of my rats, so I wouldn't know about the love bites. They do nibble at you if you smell like food, but other than that they don't open their mouths on you.
ReplyDeleteAnd this was in no way a love bite from this cat... she was mean. She attacked my hand and while hanging off of my hand (with her teeth) she proceeded to swipe at my face with her claws. She cut my nose and scratched the crap out of my face... and put two holes in my hand. Definitely not love. haha
But yes, when you visit you'll have to hold one of them. Too bad it could be Mushu. He was such a bundle of man squish. :) Maybe Annie will still be around by then. She is super soft and very loving.
Ah thank you, Hal! :D I was actually thinking how bad of a writer I was while I was writing it! LOL! Good to hear that I'm not as bad I was thinking! Your blogs definitely captivate me too! They're "punny" also! MUAHAHA!!
ReplyDeleteAdventures of Miss Priss... Starting SOOOON! ;-D
Awww man! :( I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with a cat, Tansy! That's terrible!! You definitely shoulda met Stinky when he was alive! :) He was like THE perfect cat! Winston is really sweet too, but he sheds a LOT lol, so that's kind of annoying!!
ReplyDeleteOh I would have LOVED to met Mushu!! Gahh it's so tragic.. us losing our "favs!" :( Stick around for me, Annie!!!
if I wasn't allergic to cats I probably wouldn't mind Winston in the least... because he's your baby. ;)
ReplyDeleteYep he's just my big ole baby! lol. Like a ragdoll shedding teddy bear, that one! Cat allergies... sadness :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I have rat allergies too but ignore it for the love of the rats. It's only bad when I clean out the cage. I think the pee makes my asthma flare up.
ReplyDeleteEesh! Yea I can see where the pee could flare up your asthma! I hate cleaning the litter box! I hate it so much, in fact, that I even got one of those automatic litter boxes that scoops it up for you, but even that makes a mess of its own lol ... And I've seen where people train their cats to use the toilet, but I wouldn't want to sit in kitty pee or poo if they miss! Ew! LOL!!!
ReplyDeletehaha yeah, that would be bad.
