This morning was like any other morning... We woke up later than we needed to and ended up having to rush out of the door... But when I woke up and turned on the light, I noticed Winston was at the foot of my bed. He does do this from time to time, but he normally sleeps on Gene's side of the bed if he does this (unless I'm home alone). I found this peculiar, yes, but didn't think much of it. It was when we got in the car and pulled out of the carport that I really started realizing or pondering what was up... When I got in the car, Gene pointed to where Stinky is buried and said, "He's mourning." I look over to where he's pointing and there's Winston, standing over Stinky's grave, just looking down at it. Omg my heart sank at how sad this scenario looked! Did he really know Stinky was down there? Could he really be pretty much "mourning" over him? I have no idea, but he did see where we buried him and we even let him see/sniff Stinky (he was in a plastic bag that the vet put him in), so it's all a possibility. I wish I could have gotten a picture of what I saw, but of course, we were on our way to work and already late, plus Winston probably would have walked away from the grave if I came any closer. I really feel, in my heart, that he was mourning. He and Stinky were pretty close. They cuddled together a lot (as pictures above portray!), and even though I think it was mainly Stinky that wanted to cuddle, I know Winston enjoyed it too! I'm definitely going to give Winston a proper kitty hug when I get home! I think he wanted one before he even went outside, which was why he was sleeping in such an unusual spot (him wanted him's kitteh hugs FIRST-THING KTHX!). :') I hope he attaches to Ruby as well as he ended up with Stinky! Cats need companions too! It's okay, MinMin! I miss the little Stinkster too... And always will! ♥♥♥
That is really precious. I'm absolutely positive he was mourning. He lost his best friend. :(
